"But the more people talk, the better I play. You can talk about that. If you want to talk about the celebration, go ahead. I'll just keep playing and doing whatever the team needs me to do." -- Canadiens' P.K. Subban on his celebration after netting the OT goal that vaulted the Habs into the playoffs
Someone needs to beat the arrogance out of this kid.

I'm fine with the celebrations and stuff
Its the dirty hits and plays and not answering the challenge that gets me. I don’t mind youthful exberernce or the celebration because lets face it guys like Dubi, Step, Anisimov and the others would do similar celebrations. Until he answers a challenge from an opponent after a dirty hit or defending a teammate then he’s still gonna be a punk

well said
I like the way he plays and all his energy. The last thing i want is to come off as one of these old guard Don Cherry type blowhards who are uptight about something new and fresh in the game. That being said, answering for a dirty hit and defending teammates will never go out of style.
couldn't have said it better.
who cares if he is arrogant? He is a pro athlete, lots of them are arrogant. He wants to run around like a ballerina after he scores a big goal then that’s cool for him, he is playing a game, it should be fun. He needs to have the “dirty, vicious, trying to hurt people with cheapshots mentality” beaten out of him, not his arrogance. Athletes, especially pro’s are arrogant mostly by nature, but it’s not okay to try to hurt people. Also slightly of topic, but I don’t consider scoring a goal (especially a huge one) and going nuts arrogance. These guys are so highly invested in making the playoffs and we have to remember they are playing a childrens game for a living, can’t it be fun?
I don’t understand the hate against this kid. I agree with 8k, if he’s doing actual devious stuff like slewfoots and dirty hits, sure, go ahead and call him out. But for having fun and enjoying the game, i don’t think there’s anything wrong with that
if I said “the more you bitch about my comments the better I write” would you consider me an arrogant ass for saying that? Even Avery doesn’t stoop this low – he’ll say that he plays better when he’s pushing the limit, but never that he specifically plays better because people are talking about it. That’s a little high-on-yourself arrogance in an attempt to rub people’s nose in it. You play with someting to prove, you don’t talk about playing with something to prove. This guy has no class and an enormous amount to learn what it means to be a pro.

who gives a shit about any of this.
You don’t decide what people should and shouldn’t say or how they should or should not celebrate. It’s been documented throughout the history of sports that some guys thrive under situations where they are surrounded by people who hate them. Rub people’s noses in it? Rub whose nose in what? What are you even talking about?
I’ll put it in smaller words for you. There is a difference between playing arrogant and talking arrogant. One has class and is considered hard nosed, the other has no class. I don’t care about the celebrations, intensity, or dirty play. When you speak with no class it garners comment. Look at what MCD said after Cooke tried to take his head off – that was class. I’m sure he thought all kinds of other things, but when he spoke publicly, he had class. And I do get to decide for myself if I feel someone speaks arrogantly or classlessly – on this one I’m not alone. This whole thing, in and of itself, is not a huge deal, but it continues to speak volumes about the type of player and person PK Subban is. People tend to look the other way when the results go up on the board, but I’m guessing there is more then one Canadian in the locker room that wants to smack the crap out of this kid.

I really wish he took the dirty plays and cowardness out of his game, because if he did he would be one of my favorite players. But he really needs to stop being a bitch and drop the gloves when someone challenges him for some dirty shit he does.
Even Hal Gill told him to shut the fuck up right? Dude keeps talking and playing dirty but he’ll get caught sooner or later

couple of problems with P.K. ..........
First off, he hasn’t been in the league long enough to have this kind of attitude. You’re a rookie, or a second year player, you keep your mouth shut until you establish yourself. Plain and simple…….it would be like walking into a new job and talking shit your first few weeks there. You just don’t do it.
Secondly, as far as celebrations are concerned, I don’t want to see hockey turned into the NFL with the ridiculous dancing ‘oooh look at me i’m twelve’ nonsense.
Here’s where I insert my ‘take out the instigator rule’ argument. Make instigating a two-minute minor like it used to be in the good old days and guys like P.K. Subban would learn to STFU real fast.

Most of those aren’t half of what the clown wide receivers do after a touchdown.

He brings a lot of talent to the game, but he also brings a lot of bullshit to the game. Lose the bullshit. I remember several months ago there was an article about him celebrating after a big goal. Who cares? Let him celebrate. What I have a problem with is his dirty playing, then hiding behind the referee and teammates. He would not fight Prust or Sauer that game. He even grabbed Prust from behind. I wonder why? There will be times he will have no choice, and he will get shut up. LETS GO RANGERS!
Going back to the Boston game, I watched it a “few” more times. I know a lot of players played well after the first, but Eminger really had a good game. He carried the puck well, and played tough defensively.
Let's Face It
Hockey interviews are a real snore. Anyone that can stir things up and make hockey more interesting off the ice to bring attention to it, especially Stateside, is doing the NHL a service.
