Apologize for politicizing the Banter, but I always applaud endeavors towards equality.

i saw this a little while back
but i’ve never seen that commercial before.
Were all held to our own opinions about this and other topics, but I applaud Aves for this. He’s around gays all the time since hes in the fashion industry, so he’s clearly supporting his fellow peers. Isn’t it ironic though how he says “i treat everyone the way i want to be treated” lmao
agreed. Avery has guts to stand firm in what he believes in

I’m sort of shocked that this was the only post on Sean’s comments. I thought he was really gutsy to do it. I’d love to see him, Burke, and others join together on this issue.
I think a lot of people would
I read an article on Burke a few months back about the efforts he’s been making to further the gay rights issue, especially in sports. I think going so far as tackling gay marriage would be a little out of his wheelhouse, especially as he’s expressed discomfort about being one of the first people to tackle the “being gay in hockey” issue since his son passed.
Not to politicize this further, but...
There is a big news development regarding this.
Broadcaster Damian Goddard of Rogers Sportsnet (Canada) was fired over a tweet he sent regarding this very issue. As we now know, Sean Avery supports same-sex marriage. Hockey agent Todd Reynolds tweeted an opposition to Avery’s stance and Goddard sent a tweet agreeing with Reynolds.
Damian Goddard wrote, “I completely and whole-heartedly support Todd Reynolds and his support for the traditional and TRUE meaning of marriage.”
Rogers Sportsnet responded, “Today’s tweet from Damian Goddard does not reflect the views of Rogers Sportsnet.”
As you all likely know, same-sex marriage is legal in Canada (Civil Marriage Act, 2005).

Rangers are the first professional sports team to back same-sex marriage. Pretty fuckin’ epic. Proud of my team for that.
