Rangers Will Play Special Exhibition Against Frolunda Of SEL
New York/Toronto – The New York Rangers will play a special exhibition game against the Frolunda Indians of the Swedish Elite League at the Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden, on Friday, Sept. 30, as part of the 2011 Compuware NHL Premiere Challenge.
Tickets for this special game go on sale tomorrow, June 21, at 9:00 a.m. local time in Gothenburg. For more information on purchasing tickets visit www.ticnet.se.
It will be a unique return home for Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, who played five seasons for Frolunda before coming to the NHL. In 2005, his last in Sweden before joining the Rangers, Henrik captured both the Golden Puck and the Golden Helmet awards for outstanding play. To make the occasion even more special, Henrik, a two-time NHL All-Star, will oppose his twin brother Joel, who plays for the Indians.
If anyone happens to be planning this very long road trip, let us know.

Lots of gold being tossed around in Sweden.
We will get to see Joel Lundqvist again and try to not throw up out of rage and disappointment when the only storyline the broadcasters talk about is twins playing against one another in a hockey game. Guess what idiots, when you have brothers that you grow up with. Guess who you play hockey and other sports against? Your brothers. It is a strange law of nature… in my house we have three brothers who became goalies and three brothers who were forwards/defensemen. Guess how that pattern went? Defenseman, goalie, forward, goalie, defenseman, goalie. Because we all practiced hockey with our brothers!
Sometimes these crazy exhibition expedition games (see what I did there?) are good for team-bonding and all of that crap. Hopefully we get some of that out of this experience.

I think I saw it on CBC after the Bruins won...
But the last three (I think – don’t have time to look it up) Cup champions started the season in Europe haha

Last time we started in Europe we fired our coach midseason and lost to the craps in the first round so it works both ways I guess
