Leafs Acquire John-Micheal Liles
According to TSN.ca, the Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired defenceman, John-Micheal Liles from the Colorado Avalanche. The Avalanche will receive Toronto's second round pick in 2012. That draft pick was acquired in the Thomas Kaberle and Boston deal last year.
Quote from TSN.ca:
The Avalanche sent the defenceman to the Maple Leafs in exchange for Toronto's second round draft pick in 2012.
That draft pick was acquired when the Leafs dealt Tomas Kaberle to the Bruins last year.

Interesting.
(Said this elsewhere verbatim).
Interesting move. Think that was the same asking price for Liles during the trade deadline which makes me think that the Leafs may have overpaid for him… but having a puck-moving defenseman now that Kaberele is gone is very important to that organization and its efforts to build an offensive system.
I don’t hate the move but I think he could have been had for a 3rd rd pick or a lower-level prospect.

He couldn't
Burke tried.
It’s a 2012 (likely late) 2nd rounder. It’s a pretty good deal for the Leafs

This eats up some cap for them…..perhaps we are the only team shooting for Brad Richards?
Absolute Worst Ranger Fan!!!!!!....yet incredibly realistic and usually correct.
Leafs have plenty of room. If NYR is the only one in on him, it’s not because of cap space.
