Matt Gilroy Signs in Tampa.
Former New York Rangers blueliner Matt Gilroy has signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Gilroy was put on the market after he did not receive a qualifying offer from the Rangers. He was a healthy scratch quite often at the end of the season and was the odd man out.
Gilroy now moves on and has officially signed a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Gilroy's contract will see him earning $1 million for one-year.
Discuss away.

That is less than he earned last season, and he didn’t take the lower offer from us. Interesting.
Absolute Worst Ranger Fan!!!!!!....yet incredibly realistic and usually correct.
He probably could have gotten 1.2 from us.
It is about the opportunity. He knew he would never be successful in our system. Good for Gilroy.

And then everybody here will flip shit that we didn’t sign this beast of a dman, not realizing that hes surrounded by the best PP in hockey…

Yeah, he’s not going to see PP1 time with Bergeron re-signed and St Louis playing the point.
Nonetheless, he should fit in there pretty well

I always liked him, but he never fit with the Rangers, gl Gilroy
"Fantasy, reality, science Fiction. Which is which? Who can tell?"
wow
great fit for him glad he signed with a really talented team, watch him really come into his own there
Bruce Carter+Sean Lee=BRUCE LEE!!!!
I just have this feeling
that Gilroy ends up being a good player for Tampa and alot of Rangers fan will bitch on here OMG I TOLD YOU SO WE SHOULDA SIGNED HIM
I can just see that happening
he never fit in here, he never would have so I am glad he got the opportunity elsewhere plus the pressure of playing for your hometown team really f’d with his head, Torts obviously was hard on him, its just a great move for both sides imo, he gets the opportunity a fresh start, we now can move up one of our other physical defenseman that fit the system
Bruce Carter+Sean Lee=BRUCE LEE!!!!
Good for Gilly.
I hope he gets some good playing time and develops into a real solid dman.
Best of luck Matt.
"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
