Or NY. We have $10-12m coming off the cap and a vacant 1st line wing spot :P

Yeah but he would come expensive with a long term contract in the area of 9 years at 70 million. Too rich for our blood, imo.

Exactly great player not worth that much

by Ranger McJersey on Jul 29, 2011 8:01 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

He’s worth that much, easily. All his production has come playing top lines at 5v5 with Zajac. That’s Zetterberg-esque.

I believe in next year.

I have a feeling the new CBA is not going to be allowing 9 year deals for players of any age.

Unless MZA has a dynamite year, I see Prust being the only free agent forward coming back. That means Wolski, Avery, Fedetenko, Christensen, MZA, and $2m of Drury’s buyout are coming off our books, totaling $12.3m. Give Prusty $300k of that. Now, one of those forwards probably doesn’t have a roster spot this fall and another is probably a healthy scratch. 3 roster spots, including top line LW are being vacated. That could be Paris and pick 2 out of Thomas, Kreider, and Hagelin, with cap space left over for the future (or eaten up by a reduction in the cap.)

I am not saying we should do this, I am just saying that it could happen. Parise for 6 years at $45m.

by BigB22 on Jul 29, 2011 8:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Ignoring the rest that i disagree with, do you really think Prusty is only worth 300k…?

by Ranger McJersey on Jul 29, 2011 8:49 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

$300k raise, only losing $300k of the $12.3m of cap space freeing up next summer and letting the other guys walk.

by BigB22 on Jul 29, 2011 9:31 PM EDT up reply actions

So wouldn’t that losing 1.1 of the 12.3 not saying that’s bad just honesty don’t know why it would only be 300k…

by Ranger McJersey on Jul 29, 2011 9:40 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

I didn’t count Prust coming off. If you include Prust it is $13.1m

by BigB22 on Jul 29, 2011 11:23 PM EDT up reply actions

Gotcha fair enough sorry for my confusion

by Ranger McJersey on Jul 30, 2011 12:39 AM EDT via mobile up reply actions

300k

obviously he meant a raise because 300k is below the NHL minimum salary

considering how well the last few free agents the rangers have signed away from the devils

i’m gonna have to pass on that idea

Would it be a Rangers draft if we didn’t leave an elite talent on the board after taking our pick?

by BuckarooClub on Jul 29, 2011 8:29 PM EDT up reply actions

or in the case of that draft

ten elite talents?

Too bad they had to trade a bunch of people to get him back including a weak trade to the islanders. Was he really worth it?

..actually i don’t care cause even with him there not going to win a single game against us this season .

by XxC17xX on Jul 29, 2011 7:57 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

So im still arguing my dumb devil fan friend that six is too much… so I started thinking Dubinsky is getting about 3.85 for his rfa years meaning parise is getting more than 33% more and considering (granted he was hurt) 13 GP 3 g 3 a totals last year, not to mention dubinsky’s leadership and his talent without gloves, to Dubi’s 77 GP 24 g 30 a is NOT worth that much of a mark up. So basically great job sather and suck it Lou!

by Ranger McJersey on Jul 29, 2011 9:00 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

So you’re only looking at LAST SEASON, when he was hurt, and not the four seasons before that, where Parise never had less then 30 goals and 60 points??? Lou did great for next year, but I wouldn’t be suprised to see Parise walk after that if he doesn’t come up with more money.

by BuckarooClub on Jul 29, 2011 9:11 PM EDT up reply actions

I understand that part I think he is an awesome player my point is who knows if he fully recovered and to spend 6 to find out is stupid spending 3.85 when you know the least you’re going to get is worth more than that… good move

by Ranger McJersey on Jul 29, 2011 9:32 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

On the other hand, healthy Parise is worth more than $7 million per year.

It’s not even a case where you’re signing him as an FA, The Devs Docs know his situation, and how he healed. I don’t think 6 mil is too much at all. We gave Gabby 7.5 and he’s not as good as Parise and has MORE injury history

just to avoid arbitration and then they will work on a long term extension…just like Lundqvist did way back when

devils fan here. anyone that says hes definitely leaving because of the one year deal needs to remember that the rangers did the same thing with henrik lundqvist when he was an rfa and scheduled for an arbitration hearing. because of the injruy its a safe move, but at the same time the face they signed it 4 days before the hearing shows that both sides were way apart on terms of a deal.

by poopydoodie11 on Jul 29, 2011 9:28 PM EDT reply actions

exactly…there is no way Parise becomes a free agent next season

Yea, why would a 27 year-old want to test free agency? I have no idea what’s going through Parise’s head, but him hitting the market is certainly a possibility.

by XLII on Jul 29, 2011 9:50 PM EDT up reply actions

Yea, why would a 27 year-old who’s said repeatedly he wants to remain in NJ want to test free agency?

fixed that for you.

Right, that’s an air-tight argument you got.

+1
He literally cannot say anything else. I’m willing to bet he remains in Jersey… but with the lure of free agency, nothing is guaranteed.

Who gives a shit.. Plax just visited the Giants

Great photo online of him looking at a wall size picture of himself catching the winning touchdown in the super bowl at the Giants facility. Works on a number of levels.

Parise is Julia Roberts and Dubinsky is Sandra Bullock, you can’t compare them.

I’d make love to Eric Roberts for a chance to sniff a toilet seat that Julia Roberts used to make a stinky #2.
