New York Rangers News and Notes: Bantering Points

TORONTO - OCTOBER 21: Artem Anisimov #42 of the New York Rangers celebrates his goal during game action against Toronto Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre October 21 2010 in Toronto Ontario Canada. (Photo by Abelimages/Getty Images)

 - About two weeks ago, Sean Avery was arrested on a battery charge after shoving a police officer. Reports surfaced yesterday that he will not face any charges. Avery never actually shoved an officer, rather the officer got his foot stuck in the door.

 - We all got to witness the play of forward Dale Weise last season. Guest blogger Sene posted that Weise could be a replica of Milan Lucic.

 - Jess Rubenstein takes a look a little bit of everything, including some of the Rangers prospects.

 - The other major discussion to past off-season is what will happen with Mats Zuccarello? Chris over at Blue Seat Blogs takes a look at the possibilities.

 - Artem Anisimov talks about his excitement on his new contract with the Rangers. He also states that he will moving to Manhattan, which will help him focus on next season.

What SHOULD happen with MZA? He should be given every opportunity to play a top 9 forward position and the PP. 23 pts in 42 games in his first year in North America is pretty damned good considering he hit the proverbial wall at the end of last season. Could be a pleasant surprise this year. I think he’s very skilled and not afraid of contact. I believe he should get a shot at 1st line LW but I don’t think Torts would do that so I think Stepan is next there.

BTW, why isn’t MDZ taking lessons from Underhill? Until he improves his skating he will not be the offensive D everyone expects him to be. You can get away with it in juniors and even in your rookie year. But when other NHL teams realize your playing tendencies then you are exposed, which is what happened to MDZ in year 2. He needs to start at the Whale as he has a long way to go.

There was a post a month or so ago that says he is/has. He might not have been there for that session.

Where did Anisimov live before? I hope he moves to the upper east side.

interesting concept for a (young) guy… move to NY because there is no way anyone could get distracted there……….. seriously though, UES may be the only place to pull that off…

please please please!

I would beg rangers coaches and mgmt to let zuc play solid minutes this year. His projected stats over 82 games is tied w stepan, and stepan played more minutes and was used to the rink size. Yet everyone considers stepan the breakout guy last year. This kid never played that many games so running out of gas at the end was expected. Let him play decent minutes this season and ill bet he out scores stepan, ww, avery, christensen or anisimov. Everyone here begs for talented player but when one is staring you in the face half of you think we should bury him in the ahl and play EC? That’s a joke. If your gonna take a talented player on this team as a project, zuc >>>> EC. Its a no brainer
