Bantering Points: Who's Due For A Bounce Back Season?
- As I shared yesterday, Dave at Blue Seat Blogs posted about potential sophomore slumps. He now shares with us, who might be due for a bounce back season in 2011-2012.
- As we all now, J.T MIller is making his presence known at the USA Development Camp. Joe breaks down his exact chances of cracking Team USA's tournament roster.
- Mike Rupp is classy as they come for hockey players. This past season, Mike hit the boards and caused a fan to spill his beer. Rupp's response may surprise many of you, but he gave the fan $10 along with a signed puck and an apology. Mike Rupp is nothing but a class act, and will fit in well in New York.
- As I shared yesterday as well, Marty Biron gave us a nice tour in the MSG training center. Today the third part of the tour was posted. Marty takes us inside the trainers room and shows us what goes on, on a daily basis there.
- We are all hoping Wojtek Wolski has a breakout season and he is doing everything he can to make that happen. Wolski is taking part in the BioSteel Camp, which also includes NHL'ers Steven Stamkos, Tyler Seguin, Jeff Skinner and many more. Wolski is making sure the up-coming season will be a good one.
- Brad Richards brought his skill-set to New York, and some people believe he was only brought here to help Marian Gaborik. Nick over at Rangers Tribune takes a look at why Richards was not only signed to help Gaborik.

I believe this has been brought up before, but...
I really think that last year was just a complete fluke for Gaborik, and that no matter who his center is he will regain his form. You just don’t lose talent like that over night. The one thing about Gaborik, is that he’s essentially been a 40 goal scorer without a true #1 center. Richards on the other hand has not exactly played with anyone like Gaborik, and he has still be a 90 point player. I think if Gaborik and Richards somehow don’t click they both might excel on seperate lines. If you put Richards with the likes Wolski and DubinskyCallahan, can you imagine the potential season the two of them would have? Also, if Gaborik returns to form and can score 40 goals without an elite center, why not place him with Anisimov and Callahan/dubinsky? You spread out the scoring and make it much more difficult to shut down two lines.
Obviously the best option is for them to click immediately, but putting them on seperate lines (while still combining on the power play) could be just as productive, assuming Gabby returns to for, which I have no doubt he will do.

That’s interesting… never really considered the other options there.
Wolski – BR – Cally
Dubi – AA – Gabby
That could work out well, I have no clue, but you’re right, if Gabby/BR doesn’t click, it could be tried. Though line 2 there doesn’t have a great playmaker.
I think it would add a combination of grit and skill to both lines, and make it extremely difficult to defend against. One of the issues debated on here, was the lack or toughness on the first line and someone to go into the corners.
In response to the fact that line 2 doesnt have a great playmaker, no matter what the line combinations are, there wont be a great playmaker on any line but the one Brad Richards is on haha.
I just think that Gabby has excelled throughout his career with no true center, and Richards is one of the best at making the players around him better. We’ll see how good a season louis erickson has without Richards on his line.
It just an interesting thought.

Well stepan and zuccarello have both shown the potential o be great playmakers. Obviously mza is not a center, but he can make some great plays. Stepans strength is his vision and playmaking ability, so maybe he’ll fit that bill soon.

Did you know the following about CT's father?
Steve Thomas was born in Stockport, England, was in the movie Youngblood alongside hotties Patrick Swayze and Rob Lowe. He’s the one who smacks Swayze on the ass with a towel in the locker room. In the NHL his nickname was Stumpy (not going to read into that one).
Wikipedia is a hell of a thing.

Correction, Thomas gets his ass smacked by Swayze. Either way, gets blood in it for me.
