Eminger has nothing to worry about...
Eminger IS the 7th defenseman unless MDZ, Erixon and/or Bell doesn’t pan out. Than he could become the 6th. MDZ and Erixon should be worried.
scratch that, looks like he’s not a whole lot more than organizational depth

the new Wade Redden? (without the contract)
is there a trade in the works?
"Fantasy, reality, science Fiction. Which is which? Who can tell?"
This has to be part of something else, right?
Maybe he’s destined for the minors at some level? Why not just give him a camp invite? I’m thinking something else has to be brewing.
Agree...
something else is going on. Wonder if Sauer is on the block. His value is high right now. If Erixon is the Top 4 D man everyone says he is, that moves Sauer to 3rd pair, where he’d have less trade value.
'Cause Brawndo's got electrolyes....
If we are trading a Dman
It better be a left handed dman.

This is probably a depth move
I still think Erixon is a favorite to make the team, just a personal opinion on Erixon though

21 points in 53 games as a dman is nothing to sneeze at… I wonder why he couldn’t find an NHL job?

I’ve been reading that it could possibly be a replacement for Pashnin. He decided to play in Russia, and the Rangers were almost certain he was coming over the play.
Either way, we shall find out soon enough.
It definitely makes things more interesting…
Torts loves competition at camp, so I only see this as a good thing.

This could potentially lead to something bigger, from what I’ve been hearing. We have an abundance of young defensemen. What makes us want to sign another?
I have a feeling we might be parting with some via trade. Maybe a winger? Who knows, we’ll see soon enough.

can't rely on...
4 young guys with 1 or less years of experience in the NHL to man your d-line.
Yes there is Eminger, but eminger is a guy they want playing 30 games, not 82. It never hurts to bring more guys in.
Besides, Brendan Bell is 28 and has only played 101 NHL games. What makes you guys think he’s going to even play 1 on the Rangers this year? — i don’t
This is a pretty good point
You need a Plan-B in case the young defenseman can’t keep up.

Chances are he’s just some experience for the CT level, but he does have some offensive upside (52 point in 72 AHL games in 09-10, 11 in 29 in the not so easy to score SEL last year), and he did have 21 in 53 in his last NHL stint.
There must be a reason he hasn’t stuck at the NHL level, but it can’t be a bad thing to have more guys competing for the 6-7 spots.

Quote from this article,“He is a very agile skater.” Quote from another article,“but his skating is very weak.” Which is it ? If his skating is weak, that would explain his not sticking with a team. His point totals do tell otherwise though. Although most of you don’t put any validity to +/-, his is not bad either. As stated before though, I think this is just a depth move for Whale. Then again, as much as I would love to see it, I doubt we are going to go through a full season without injuries, especially how our maniacs play. Don’t we play 17 games in March? Talk about fatigue and injuries, I hope it is not as brutal as it looks on paper.
