Open Game Thread: Traverse City Game Two Vs Dallas

ST. PAUL, MN - APRIL 07: Carl Hagelin #12 of the Michigan Wolverines takes the puck as Chay Genoway #5 of the North Dakota Fighting Sioux defends during semifinals of the 2011 NCAA Men's Frozen Four on April 7, 2011 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. (Photo by Elsa/Getty Images)

After a solid first game at Traverse City, the Rangers look to continue their winning ways against the Dallas Stars. The Rangers showed spurs of brilliance last night, and made the most of their opportunities.

Ryan Bourque and Christian Thomas displayed their speed, and surely impressed the Rangers brass, along with a lot of fans as well. Tim Erixon played awesome on the blue line and contributed an early powerplay goal for the Blueshirts. A lot of other names went unnoticed as well, like Michael St. Croix and Jyri Niemi.

There are still three games remaining in the tournament for these players to show off their skills. Sometimes it just takes a game or two to get comfortable.

Andrew Yogan hopes to rebound and finally net a goal tonight. He had a handful of chances last night, but he just couldn't seem to bury them.

Tonight should be another great showcase of all our prospects. We will be covering each game with an open thread, along with an analysis shortly after the game. The Rangers next game is scheduled for Tuesday, September 13th versus the Carolina Hurricanes.

Enjoy the game and Let's Go Rangers!!

I wanna see if Erixon can keep up his good play from last night

Same, and ditto Hagelin and Bourque… Thomas showed off his passing, I want to see some good shots from him. I want McIlrath to be more consistent. I want to see how Stacjer is…

Most of all, I want 8K back, what the hell!

Oh, I would love to see more from JT Miller, though we must remember that this guy has like 0 experience at this level of competition.

As I stated in the previous thread, Dallas should be stiffer competition. They are coming off an 8-3 win against Carolina. Scott Glennie will be a handful for Erixon/McIlrath.

Well judging by these first two games Sather, Clark, and Co have really done their homework on prospects. I mean this is pure domination by the rangers prospects so far. I mean how many players are playing great right now and how many are way above expectations? I know bourque really surprised me. I see him as a chris drury type player being a great two way forward with some offensive skill, that’s not that tall. Even Parlett is making a case for a roster spot in the near future.

Even if most of these players don’t make the roster, they are good trade bait to get a top echelon player.

I’m really happy with what i’m seeing so far.

Lots of positives so far.

But the guys I’ve taken notice of so far are not the Erixon, Hagelin and Thomas bunch.

Parlett, Yogan and Bourque have impressed the most (perhaps due to lower expectations). Miller is also in the mix there.

Erixon has been fine..he’s smooth and not flashy. Sort of like Staal but with a bit more offensive mindedness.
