Bantering Points: Del Zotto's Waiver Situation Could Be A Problem

NEW YORK NY - FEBRUARY 20: Michael Del Zotto #4 of the New York Rangers controls the puck against the Philadelpia Flyers at Madison Square Garden on February 20 2011 in New York City. The Flyers defeated the Rangers 4-2. (Photo by Chris Trotman/Getty Images)

 - Michael Del Zotto is running on 33 games before he has to pass through waivers, to be sent down to the AHL. This could be a major concern if he struggles for another season. Dave takes a look at what could potentially happen.

 - Our second round of voting for the Winter Classic Jersey Contest is now underway! Take a look at how voting will work for this round! Good luck to all of our finalists!

 - Yesterday, Jim Cerny hosted a chat on Blueshirts United, and Ryan Bourque was his guest. According to Bourque, he wants to model his game after Ryan Callahan. The future for the Rangers could be really bright if that came true.

 - It can become a difficult process to tell when a prospect is ready for the NHL. Michael over at Bleeding All Blue, takes a look at the process that is involved with Christan Thomas and Tim Erixon.

 - Chris Kreider recently took part in the Rangers informal skates this week. He states that he would like to get to the NHL soon, and get to play with the young guys on the Rangers.

Unless MDZ plays lights out at the start of camp and preseason he may well end up at the Whale given his waiver status. That is definitely a big factor to consider. I believe MZA has a similar situation.

Really hoping that MDZ is working his ass off this offseason to make the team.

Does anyone else go crazy when they see “Rangers” on the ESPN scroll and see that it is about the Texas Rangers? My entire life I have snapped my head up when I saw “Rangers” out of the corner of my eye and have always mumbled a terrible obscenity when I realized it was about the baseball team.

My fantasy hockey question of the day for you guys:

Ryan Kesler

or

Corey Perry

both guys are coming off of career years and likely won’t repeat what they did last year. The gut reaction is to go with Perry because of the depth at center in fantasy hockey but you have to ask yourself who will have a more disappointing season this year?

yes, lol and Perry, no question, IMO.

Perry’s the much safer bet. He’s still on the same line, and has posted 40+ assists for 3 years running. If he had shot just career average last year instead of the 17% he did, he still posts 33 goals/81 points. Combined with his RW position and the 100+ PIMs he’s nearly a lock for, he’s money in the bank.

You do realize

That in the BSB fantasy draft you’re basically going to get all your picks taken off the board before you can choose them now.

Hardly. Most of the questions I am posing are just for shits and giggles.

Ryan x 2

Bourque’s savvy comment is yet another in the litany of stamps of approval on why Cally should be named Captain.

I mean, RC’s how old and he already has prospects modeling their games after him? What does that tell ya?

So help me….. :(

It would be smart for any player to model their game after Cally.

He is a coaches wet dream.
