New York Rangers Prospects: Previewing The New York Rangers At The Traverse City Tournament
Well, its September, and that means that hockey is right around the corner. Starting things off in Rangerland is the Traverse City Tournament held in Traverse City, Michigan. For those who don't know; the Traverse City Prospect Tournament is an 8 team tournament (Detroit, Buffalo, Carolina, St. Louis, Minnesota, Columbus and Dallas round out the teams) that showcases the best prospects that the teams have in their systems. The tournament is a good chance for the organization, players and fans to get ready for the opening of training camps and preseason.
The tournament has always been a big development step for the Rangers; looking through the NHL roster, Brandon Dubinsky, Ryan Callahan and Artem Anisimov all participated in the tournament for the Rangers as did Marc Staal. Traverse is the place for young Rangers prospects to make a big impression on everyone watching and gives them a good taste at what the competition level they are up against both in the organization and against other teams in the league
After the jump I'll look at the Rangers roster for the TCT and who we should look to make an impression during the tournament.

I’m looking at these guys in three categories:
I) Near NHL Ready – These guys should consistently stand out from a talent and readiness perspective. My list includes Erixon, Hagelin and Christian Thomas.
2) At least 18-24 months from NHL – These guys should flash, but also have lapses at time and/or not have physical maturity to win puck battles and play with jam all the time. This includes McIlrath Bourque, Yogan, and JT Miller.
3) Finally, the wild cards. These are guys that I have limited info to develop preliminary thoughts on and will be making first impression on me. Kerbashian, Wilson, both goalies and pretty much the rest of the team.

Im so excited. Finally I get to see some of these guys play for the first time and not see a couple of highlights.
John Tortorella on 24/7 will be like Ari Gold on Entourage.

Erixon...
He’s the one I will be watching most closely, think he could be a dark horse this season for the Rangers.
Can we all collectively bargain not to be douche bags ?

Interested in Parlett
I know we don’t need to talk about any more young D men, but the kid came over and played 24 games for the whale and got 12 points, from what I remember most of them on the PP. Interested to see how he does…
'Cause Brawndo's got electrolyes....
Watching Mcllrath and Miller most closely. No reason Erixon would have any problems, and he will likely not stand out too much either. Thomas, we know what he is against these type of players, he should put up points but thats expected. Mcllrath and Miller to me are the people i am real curious about
