Carl Hagelin The Latest Addition To The All-Star Rookies Team
Carl Hagelin of the New York Rangers is the latest addition to the 2012 NHL All-Star game. With the recent injuries to Adam Larsson and Adam Henrique, Carl Hagelin has been called in as a replacement for the All-Stars rookie team. I was actually surprised to see that Hagelin did not make the initial roster created by the National Hockey League.
This now marks four New York Rangers players that will be heading to Ottawa, along with head coach John Tortorella, not bad huh? It's also disappointing to see that the NHL is not bringing back the young stars game, which was also absent from last year's All-Star game as well.
I for one and really excited to see Carl Hagelin compete in the fastest skater competition, who seriously has a chance at beating him? He's just that ridiculously fast. Ever since his recall, 29 games ago, Hagelin has been an instant success, and has been flying. It is great to see him get a chance at this year's All-Star game, and we want to wish him the best of luck!

hmm one the few people who would have chance of beating Hags is Gaborik – he won it in 03 i think. Probably will sit it out though.
Carl is amazing.
I loved watching him play in college, and it’s nice to see that he’s tearing up the NHL.
woot
They really should just give him the award, so he doesn’t have to embarass everyone. He makes cheetahs look slow

Last year’s All-Star game didn’t include a rookie’s game, they only participated in the skills competition. I wish they would bring that game back, it was interesting.

Very cool, one of the only things I wanted to see for this ASG was where he compares to other speedsters in the league.

gotta love Marty
“Martin Biron says there is no way Dominik Hasek could play for the Rangers, because he hated players blocking shots in from of him. “He would always yell ‘Must see, must see!’”
I think
Kreider would be hagelin’s best competition…maybe we’ll find out next year

Unlikely, I doubt Hagelin is a non-rookie all star next year. I am excited about Kreider though, hope he is ready next year (and hope he plays with the Whalers this playoffs)
we could just compare times..

Maybe now
we could get a Hags v Gaby end to end race

Nah if Hags did win they wouldn’t want to embarass Gabby like that

I don’t think it would embarrass Gabby honestly

Seriously, these are grown men and teammates. I’m sure if Hags one they would playfully make fun of Gabby but I seriously doubt he would be embarrassed; everyone knows Gabby still is the better player

He wouldn’t embarrass Gaby at all since Gaby is the faster skater

maybe gabby 5 years ago
gaby has packed on muscle and is a bit older…I think the edge goes to Hagelin
@btown46
Actually may be a case where one has a faster top speed and one is quicker/accelerates faster. They are pretty close, though. Gabby makes it look effortless, another team’s star player was saying that last year, he looks slower cuz it is effortless and he flies by you.
when I see highlights of Gabby on the wild its like a whole nother gear that we don’t see with the rangers he was deffinitly faster a few years ago

He wasn’t really a grinder in the wild. I think torts system has made him better all around but took away some of that effortless shooting he had when all he did was fire pucks on that team.

Remember when he scored 5 goals against us? Was that the only person to score 5 on Lundqvist?

yes I do remember that lol…he was playing in Jacque lemaire’s system on the wild so I think he had to be defensive minded
