2012 NHL All-Star Game: Marian Gaborik Awarded MVP Of All-Star Game
During the entire weekend of festivities, Henrik Lundqvist and Marian Gaborik were in a heated battle over the All-Star game. Marian Gaborik was saying that he would score on Lundqvist, and Lundqvist said he was going to shut him down. Of course, it was all in good fun, and only added more to the already exciting game.
Marian Gaborik would eventually score a hat trick along with an assist for a four point night. Two of the goals would come against Henrik Lundqvist, who obviously wasn't too thrilled that Gaborik put not one, but two pucks past him. From that point on, along with many other Ranger fans, we were all pulling for Gaborik to get the MVP.
Sure enough, following the game, it was announced that Gaborik had indeed won MVP, along $25,000 to donate to a charity of his choice. It was great to see Gaborik bounce back from last season, and even show up some of the league's best in Ottawa. Hopefully these are early signs of a late season surge from Gaborik. Not that he hasn't already been amazing this season or anything.

ugh
they should announce the allstars, take a nice break, and skip the rest. what a waste of time.
Shoot the puck Barry!!!
I guess you think it should be all business and no fun. It was entertaining, fun to see line combos you will never see in real games. Still better than the Probowl or NBA All star game imo. Nice to see Gaborik play well. I guess haters are gonna hate, even when one of their teams players is the MVP.
I mean i guess it's good for the game
but I didn’t watch it. Regardless of who was in it, I can’t go from watching balls-out high-intensity games to that. Skills competition was probably more interesting.
Gaby is one of my favorite players but all he really did was tap in 3 goals on odd-man rushes with Datsyuk. I mean the goalie doesn’t have a shadow of a chance.
@btown46
Although Hank didn’t have a chance on the second one it was a little more than a tap in lol

exactly. most of the players looked like they’d rather be anywhere else. i will say the skills comp is fun where you can really see their abilities, but the game is a huge UGH.
time to get back to business and battle NJ.
Shoot the puck Barry!!!
not a hater. funny, i thought the regular season was supposed to be the fun part.
business implies money. hockey isn’t about money for me. never will be.
Shoot the puck Barry!!!
I meant fun as in a game where the out come doesn’t matter, a novelty game. A break from the nail biting insanity of trying to stay at the top of the league rankings. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy that intensity more than the allstar game but it has its place. I didn’t really get the impression that most players didn’t want to be there. I would say more looked like they enjoyed it than not.
Gabby.congrats!
You were impreressive! Keep the good work for the rest of the seaason.and hopefully break personal scoring record of 42 goals this season! You are the most talented player on ranger team.! Period!.I used to play hockey.,first league in Europe …so I know!
Awesome All-Star game, Gabby was a beast and showed up Hank which was awesome. But I still refuse to believe that Spezza scored that goal, It should have been Girardi but whatever its pointless.

Yup, I went back and watched the replay on my TV, Spezza never did touch the puck. Home crowd pleaser at best. Oh well, he still got a point lol.

It was just as shady as them not disqualifying Colin Greening for his bullshit “let me put my stick across the radar and pretend i finished first… in his first race with Hagelin”
I mean come on dude you are going to cheat in an all star skills competition??? pathetic

Anyone see Gleason sign for 4yrs/16 mil? Higher cap hit than any of the Rangers defenseman (playing in the NHL) Shows how good those contracts were.
@btown46
Look up what Goligoski got paid. Way to much.
Like 4/18.5 or something. Absurd.

I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
Gleason’s much better value than Gogo’s contract.

For sure, it just seems that these guys are getting overpaid.
I have no idea what Dallas was thinking with that trade and now this signing.

GMs overpay for offensive defenseman and mostly underpay defensive ones.

He is definitely underrated in my view. He was fantastic for USA in the 2010 olympics.

Yeah he was a beast during that tournament, I haven’t really seen much of him since though. But If he’s been playing at that level, the 4mil a year isnt that terrible…
