The Connecticut Whale released twelve players from the roster earlier this afternoon.

The Connecticut Whale announced this afternoon that its training camp roster has been trimmed by 12 players. The 12 players will either be assigned to the ECHL's Greenville Road Warriors, or be released from their tryout contracts entirely. Danny Hobbs, Brent Henley, Scott Tanski, Steven Delisle, Ryan Flanigan, Jordie Johnston, Kyle Haines, Andrew Courtney, Colten Hayes, Bryan Hince, and Kyle Rank were among the twelve players released this afternoon.

Among the 24 remaining skaters, Kris Newbury returned to practice for the first time since spraining his right knee last Sunday. Newbury appeared on a line with Chris Kreider, and Chad Kolarik during practice drills this afternoon, which will likely be the top line for the Whale on opening night. The other lines as per Blueshirts United were as follows:

Andrew Yogan - Kyle Jean - J.T. Miller

Micheal Haley - Kelsey Tessier - Christian Thomas

Brandon Segal - Shayne Wiebe - Ryan Bourque

Tommy Grant - Scott Pitt-Francis - Verrault Paul

On the back end, the Whale currently have seven healthy defensemen remaining in camp, which are Sean Collins, Mike Vernace, Jyri Niemi, Sam Klassen, Logan Pyett, Sebastien Piche, and Blake Parlett. Dylan McIlrath still remains sidelined as he is currently rehabbing from his knee surgery back in July.

In between the pipes, Jason Missiaen and Scott Stajcer will handle the workload as Cam Talbot is currently nursing an injury as well. Also among the injured is Marek Hrivik, and Jason Wilson.
