Being that I’m at work and living in south Jerz I’m stuck listening to the radio and the awful Flyers commentators. It really is pathetic how biased they are especially after the one guy makes a comment on how “fair” they are toward opposing teams, yet it brings me great pleasure hearing what can only be described as the whinning of a 12 year old girl over calls or lack of. The game is just too fast with them, and with the replay and technology we can see the mistakes that they can’t in real time.
The only real solution here is to allow the officials to use the technology as well.

I agree, but there is fine line with replay. Opening too much up to replay would kill the game. I love the speed if the game and I’m okay with missed calls here and there. The reality is the refs are no where near as bad as commenters believe they are. Just can’t see through their homer goggles.

Aye. I do believe that sometimes the refs to have an agenda, like during the WC it was obvious they were trying to get it to overtime. It is also human nature to appease, and therfore they make calls in favor of star players and home teams.
There is definitely a fine line, but why not have 2 guys watch the game from different angles? Let them press a button when they see a penalty. If they do that, players will be less likely to commit penalties (knowing they will be called for it) AND not as many bad calls will be made.

My only concern would be a normal game would have so many penalties called the entire game would PK and PP time..

During the one R&D camp they tested having a third, off ice ref who would be on an elevated podium between benches. They’d handle the behind the play calls. NO owners wanted to lose several front ice seats though.
Overall, the problem is consistency. The easiest example is the “Blowing the play dead on a delayed penalty when the puck is so much as coughed on by the penalized team.” That and the CONSTANT crap this year with bad viewing angles on loose pucks in the crease say to me the obvois wproblem is laziness. The refs seem to glide around and make calls from wherever they happen to be, rather than exert themselves to being where they should.
