Rangers have interest in Brad Boyes?
Here is another big body guy who would bury himself in front of the net on the power play. ESPN insider posted a story in the rumor mill about it. Does anyon belong to ESPN insider and can post the story here for us to read?
I always compared Boyes and Backes when they played together at St. Louis. Backes being the better of the two I think personally. Every sicne Boyes was traded to Buffalo I really think his game has slipped off. Im sure it would be a low risk/High reward move if we dealt for him. Do youthink he would fit well in our sytsem of play?

Don’t see how you can compare Boyes to Backes. Boyes doesn’t hit, doesn’t fight and really dosen’t score. Who do you take out of the lineup? I’m guessing Mitchell who seems like the same player. Also at 6’0 190 pounds is that really a big body in front of the net? I wouldn’t mind bringing him here as depth but do not see how he upgrades anything on this team. I would give a 5th round pick for him nothing more or maybe a prospect like P valtenko that will not be with us next year anyway.
So other than the fact that he doesn’t hit, doesn’t fight, and doesn’t score, are you on board with this?

As I said as a depth move I wouldn’t mind it. Never know what injuries can happen and if we give up basicaly nothing for an NHL player i’d be for it. We have Bickel playing wing right now I can’t see going to the playoffs with that lineup. Would I get excited about this move? Not at all but you can never have enough depth.

Why Boyes over Wolski?
Can anyone explain that to me?
"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. Can we stop this now. Boyes 3 goals and 10 assists in 45 games isn’t going to help our team and nobody in our current line up should sit to have him take their spot. Two weeks ago he had 3 goals and 10 asists in 38 games when we started talking about him…..he simply does not score and we don’t need negative production. Our team does not need another 3rd line player, this move does not improve the team. The only thing Boyes and Backes have in come is the capitial “B” in the front and the “es” on the end of their names. Stop the insanity now!!!!
Absolute Worst Ranger Fan!!!!!!....yet incredibly realistic and usually correct.
That leaves Elaine Benes out too.

Boyes’ on-ice shooting% is a dismal 4.76%, which would be sustainable pretty much only if every Buffalo shot with Boyes on the ice were from the point or the boards. I think Boyes is more a 20 pt player right now…but yeah, still bad.

ESPN insider doesnt have reliable rumors. LeBrun is the only guy employed by ESPN that has actual sources. Burnside and Custance are shaky at best
ESPN Insiders’ rumors are often rumors from other sources. They don’t much generate their own content on that front.

Yuck
Boyes sucks. We don’t need another body, we need a little more offense and PP skill. Usually, I look forward to the deadline, but htis season, I really don’t want to see a major move that will disrupt the chemistry of this team.
Exact way I feel
Trade deadline used to be exciting, this year it’s hoping we don’t trade away someone important from this team or for the future of the team.

ESPN Insider
You wanted the ESPN Insider report so here it is for what it’s worth(not much):
The New York Rangers would love to add a high-profile player at some point — perhaps a Bobby Ryan or even a Rick Nash — but it doesn’t look like that’ll happen at this trade deadline. What’s more likely is that they’ll add some key pieces to help their struggling offense — perhaps guys like Ray Whitney and Brad Boyes, according to the New York Daily News. And defensemen Pavel Kubina and Hal Gill should may also get long looks.
Now, the key for Rangers GM Glen Sather may be to keep enough assets around so he can potentially make a pitch for someone like Ryan in the offseason. In addition, he’ll want to save some cap space in case he wants to go after Ryan Suter or Zach Parise this offseason, if they make it to free agency.
"You're playing worse every day and right now you're playing like the middle of next week." Herb Brooks
So this isn’t a rumor, it’s speculation?
