Brooks Says Rangers And Jackets Talked About Nash

Here's the link. Brooks is saying that it probably won't happen but the Rangers are talking about Nash.

I believe Brooks isn't pulling this one out of his ass, because this isn't the type of story he tosses around everyday. He also says that the Blue Jackets want more than Dubi, Kreider, and a 1st. I don't blame them for wanting more than that, but that won't happen even if they want it.

I also do think that Sather will not be fleeced in this deal at all because the Rangers wouldn't be trading out of desperation.

My Personal Proposal for Rick Nash:

Dubinsky, 1st rounder, Christian Thomas, Michael St. Croix, Michael Sauer. A couple throw ins could be wolski and MZA.

Not that I necessarily want us to get Nash, that'd just be my proposal. Rangers would still maintain good prospects like Kreider, Erixon, Mcilrath, Fasth.

It'll be funny a couple years from now to look back at all these posts about Nash and Carter and see if we were all stupid, crazy, or genius.

No Nash!

It will take Stepan or McD, along with Kreider and a first rounder to land him. The price, for me, is simply too high. Rangers need goals, sure, but the young core of the team cannot be threatened in search of goals. This team has won on team chemistry this year. And haven’t we had enough of the GM trading for the big name to watch them come up short?

If we don’t make the trade, there will be no regrets, no one will say “If only we had Rick Nash!”. If we make the trade and it flops, we will feel the effects for years to come. Not worth it. And I don’t want to hear another word about Jeff Carter. He is not built to play the type of hockey these Rangers play a.k.a. he’s a lazy, sissy, selfish, piece of shit.

Let me respond simply: Fuck no.

Let me respond more elaborately: You want to trade someone who put up 56 points last year, a top 4 defensemen on any team, a first round pick, and two of our top offensive prospects in Thomas and St. Croix… for a guy who has broken 70 points ONCE in his career? It doesn’t matter what team you are on, if you cant break 70 points you aren’t worth a top 6 forward, a top 4 defensemen, a first round picks, and two solid prospects. There might be a handful of players worth that much, and Nash is not one of them.

Unbelievable.

"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Sad to see you stopped reading

Not that I necessarily want us to get Nash

"Anson Carter is a highly skilled, versatile player who we feel will play a very significant role on our team this season. He is a very intelligent player who brings a strong presence and leadership qualities." - Sather

"He's the best first passer in the game. He moves the puck up exceptionally."- Sather on signing Wade Redden

"If you look through the NHL, there aren't many players with his type of ability; he has superstar ability."- Sather on signing Vladimir Malakhov

Does it matter?

Whether anyone reads that or not, that’s what you would give up for him? That’s a pretty big joke.

It doesn’t matter whether you want to get him or not.

That proposal, YOUR proposal, is absurd. There are maybe, MAYBE, a handful of players in the league I’d trade that for.

Ok maybe it was a bit out of wack.

I’m pretty curious to see what Nash is traded for, it’s pretty clear he’s a goner.

Fair enough. Sorry if I was edgy, I’m just so tired of these proposals were we are giving up valuable assets for a terrible contract.

The issue is he’s the face of the franchise, so CBJ is going to value him more than other teams due. That’s why the trade probably wont happen.

We would be okay with giving up Dubi, Mcilrath, and some middle prospect.

They would want Dubi, Kreider, Mcilrath, and some middle prospect.

Fair Enough

I said Sauer only because I doubt CBJ wants an entire prospect pool. They want NHL talent.

Not to mention the Rangers are eventually going to have to deal away 2 of:

Staal
Erixon
Girardi
Mcdonagh
Mcilrath
Sauer
Del Zotto

Obviously they’re not going to trade away guys like Mcdonagh, but to have 7 defenseman for 6 spots is too many. I wouldn’t mind playing a guy like Steve Eminger when the salary for the D become a problem, because eventually the cap is going to catch up on them a bit.

Absolutely.

I’m okay with trading players and picks for team improvements, but a lot of the scenarios for Nash make us worse both short run and long run.

If you want to trade Dubi + Sauer + for Bobby Ryan, by all means. But Rich Nash and that contract.. ehhh

I couldn't agree more

Nash is a good player, but he’s not worth half of Richie’s proposed deal. I want to keep Thomas, Erixon, St. Croix, Mcilrath and Kreider.

Simply put, we are the best team in the league and while two of our biggest stars are imports (Richie and Gabby, who were both signed as free agents without having to give up our entire future) it is our young homegrown talent that is the reason we are where we are. Cally, Staal, Lundqvist, Girardi, Sauer, Hags, Anisimov and even Dubinsky

I don’t want Nash here. Carter I’d consider though.

FYI, I am pretty positive Carter would not have a NTC/NMC if he was traded right now. And it would not ‘kick in’. It is up to the team acquiring him if they was to assume it.
