Henrik Lundqvist: How The King Has Earned The Throne
Henrik Lundqvist has made saves, stopped shots, won games, and perplexed opponents left and right this season, and even with the praise we have heaped on him I do not think it is enough.
The amount Lundqvist means to this New York Rangers team is undefinable, but one thing is for sure: King Henrik truly is the king.
With 42 saves last night, Lundqvist earned his 42nd career shutout, as well as his seventh shutout of the season. With a 27-11-4 record, Lundqvist has had the best season of his career, and could finally win the Vezina Award.
Regardless of whether or not he actually wins the Vezina, Lundqvist has shown that he's among the top three goaltenders in hockey, and has certainly made the case for being the best goalie in hockey.
Here's a specific stat:
vs. Division- 10-3 1.70 GAA
Also, he is 2-0 vs. Boston, both times in Boston, this season.
Finally, and this may be most important, Lundqvist oils like he is getting a himmer. Enough said.

If AA and Dubi play like this then there’s no reason for any trade. I’ve said it all along and it is up to those players to keep a trade from happening. Stars of the game last night: The King, The King, and The King. Wow, what a performance. Rangers had a great 1st period and then the Bees picked it up. I think Sather turns his attention to Visnosky to help the PP. He’s going to make a trade because with a potential work stoppage next year he will feel he has to go for it this year without mortgaging the farm. Visnosky can be added without getting rid of a roster player.
+1
Absolutely agree. Dubi and Anisimov showed what they CAN do. So it leaves one to wonder what their numbers could/should be if they played that way every night???

Exactly, which is why patience is necessary and you don’t trade two improving 50 point players for a 60 point player with a cap hit more than both of them combined.

Praise Be to Himmer . . .
. . . oily in the morning.
Off to work and off to school we go, feelin’ great to be New York Rangers fans.
I leave you kids alone for one night, and you all get oily.
Unreal.
Hope your himmers are all feeling good today.

Anyone catch...
…the save Hank made in scramble off the back of his head? Didn’t run it on the MSG broadcast – but NESN caught it, as did NHL Network. Totally unreal.
Have another doughnut
I was at the game last night and when Hank made the save with his back the entire place went crazy…. they all thougt Chara scored…. but no Hank had it all the way… he was as calm and confident in net as I’ve ever seen him…. unreal
Honestly it’s more like “did you see Chara shoot at a wide open net only to wind up shooting directly at what little amount of net hank was blocking while getting up from being laid out?”

Hey
sometimes you just have to be lucky.
Or face an unlucky opponent.
Chara had 2 unlucky moments last night –
the first when McDonagh’s toss to the front of the net hits a stick (Seidenberg or Boychuk?), then Chara’s body and past Timmy Thomas for a goal.
The second when he hits Henrik in the back/top of the head.
The “Hockey gods” were smiling on Hank and the NYR last night – evens out for the 2 losses (or at least one of them) to the Devils.
Stat question
Anyone keeping tabs on how often Hank loses his stick per game? Seems the better he plays, the more he drops it…. coincidence? Lol
Have another doughnut
He drops it more when he’s really on top of his game because he knows where he needs his body to be and as soon as his stick gets even barely hung up or he has to grab it from the ice he just abandons it to keep his positioning good

i apologize
I dont get the whole oily himmer thing…
Besides that. This team does not need any additions right now. They have five pp goals during the streak thus far. And it seems like everyone is producing well. Were actually starting the win a good ammount of faceoffs too. I think this locker room is starting to get really amped up. They want to show the league that they are the team to beat and they have a serious chip on their shoulder. LGR!!!!

If I have to pick one goalie
To win any given game, I don’t care who the opponent is, or if the game is important or not, I go with Hank.
He brings it every night and is simply the best goaltender in the league (imo).

It honestly is quite possibly the funniest thing I have seen on this site in terms of pictures, gifs, videos, etc when the Rangers score.
I have a man-crush on Anisimov
Every time McDonagh plays a game in a Rangers jersey, a Canadiens fan sets a car on fire.
