Please help. How can I watch the playoffs online when traveling?
I need the help of my fellow Blueshirts. Unfortunately, I will be traveling during some of the playoffs. I want to know a viable way to watch LIVE Rangers games during the playoffs.
The NHL Center Ice package is subject to blackout when games are on NBCSports, NHL Network, NBC so that would not seem like an option since NBC/Sports has the rights to the playoffs. NBCSports does not appear to have an option to purchase the ability to stream live playoff games.
My brother-in-law suggested Slingbox so I could watch whatever channels my home tv has. However, I prefer to cut out the Slingbox (assuming I could even figure out how to hook it up) and just buy playoff access for my computer.
Can anyone help me out? It would be most appreciated as this is causing me quite some anxiety. And Murphy's Law made it during the year they have a real shot.
Thanks in advance to all suggestions.

I'd still suggest slingbox.
That’s what I use all the time. You can even watch on your iphone or ipad as well.
Not to mention DVRing the games comes in real handy also.
Other than that I don’t know how else to do it, because that’s all I use.

is it relatively easy to install it? I can follow directions well enough but I am not very computer inclined.

extremely simple.
You hook it up to your DVR and then you log into your slingbox account on slingbox.com to watch.
Being that i’m in college it’s all I use to watch TV.
The knock on it though is when your using your slingbox, the specific box you hook it up to has to be on that channel. Another words if your watching ESPN on your slingbox, that specific TV at home has to be on ESPN. That’s why it’s better to have it hooked up to the TV less frequently used. But if your house is going to be unoccupied I don’t see how that’s a problem for you.
I have had no problems with it ever after I got it installed. Sure it’s a little pricey to buy but once you buy it you have it for life because it’s not a service, and it’ benefits definitely outweigh using center ice which sucks.

good to know. didnt know that about the channel. The review said you could watch something else simultaneously. but not a deal breaker.

you can watch the TV and slingbox simultaneously
Just has to be the same channel.
It works for me and I think it’s better than other options out there like getting sketchy streams.
Also if you miss a game and want to catch it in it’s entirety it’s hard to do without a DVR.
Whatever there’s my pitch.

If you have a laptop
you can just use streams. Ive been able to watch all the games this year on HD streams. In a game thread someone is almost always willing to email you one.

Truth
Make sure you have your antivirus software enabled if you plan to search for streaming sites yourself, as most of your search results will be ultra dicey.
Center Ice is such a ripoff. I find it incredibly unfair that I have to pay to watch games just because I live 2 hours away. The NHL can kiss my ass while I watch free streams in my “authentic” $50 Rangers jersey from eBay.
NH Game Center Live is what I use. Great quality, very few issues. you gotta pay for it unlike some free streams but well worth not having to deal with the hassle of trying to find one imho
