The New York Rangers Need To Rebound Against The Sabres
The New York Rangers were handed a very disappointing loss to their cross-town rivals last night, the New York Islanders. They had a sluggish start, but were able to fight their way back into the game, and send it to overtime. However, the shootout result didn't agree with them and they only came away with one point tonight.
While they still got a point, they need to realize that these stretch of games are crucial. Whether you're in first place or not, you need every point you can get in the final stretch of games. The Rangers will be in action again tonight, and they absolutely need a victory here.
The Rangerrs are currently on a two game skid this season, which hasn't happened very often. With the trade deadline looming, the Rangers could look to make some moves if tonight's game does not go their way. It should be an interesting day as well, with Rick Nash possibly being dealt as well.

i don’t think the Rangers are that confident when Biron plays. one might think they would try to play better D, but that’s not happening. it also seems Biron is shaky early, not that the goals were entirely his fault, and then he plays better (aside from the shootouts, he’s not good one on one).
i thought the 3rd line last night was great. Dubi and Boyle played really well, created chances and one goal. Richards i thought had a bad game, Hagelin seems to be showing his inexperience at this competition/intensity level.
no need to panic, but they need to get back to the game where the control the neutral zone. too many odd man rushes and breakdowns.
Buffalo is playing well, but there’s no reason they shouldn’t come out and dominate this game.

I thought he looked pretty good last night. He was lover the place. Hope he keeps it rolling tonight.

Never feels good to only get one point against the Islanders.
Time to play Buffalo physical and go back to playing our brand of hockey and not getting outworked and out-systemed (I am making up words now) by another team. We have to jammstitutionalize (remember what I said about words) our system and go back to being a team that can’t be beat in terms of work ethic.

Hoping that we get two points against Buffalo and that I don’t hear too much about Tyson Nash today.

Watching the 1st and the first half of the 2nd period last night was so aggravating… I don’t know what it is whether they are tired or whether they are just coasting thinking things are going to come easy to them since they are in first and not in the race down the stretch for the 8th spot… but they need to get their asses in gear and probably need to get their asses kicked… not just losing but to actually be demoralized by another team… I love this team don’t get me wrong, but they are starting to “feel their oats” right now being in first and they need a real ass kicking either from their coach one of the players in the locker room or another team… and get back to playing their game…
I think a trade is looming and that’s causing some guys to maybe press a little bit namely dubinsky and if their is a trade that may just be the best thing for them as it will release some of that pressure… either way we can’t take buffalo lightly they have been playing well as has Miller…
The worst part about this “slump” is we are getting points so it’s easy to fall back on that…
@clalicata17
I think they are a bit tired and worn down. Bound to happen how this team plays. The not so good part is we have nobody to use as a sub to give some key players rest as it comes down the stretch. And worse is that we have nobody to come in in case of a injury…at least nobody Torts trust and is in shape.

Stralman aka Stralsy
has looked like utter trash lately, don’t get me wrong i love that kid, he has been a solid addition.
But seriously what is going on with him? Something seems to be dogging him.

I don’t know if you listen to Blueshirt Underground, formerly Blueshirt Banter Radio… but it was discussed last night about the problems the rangers have because of their style and building that they lack the finesse game that is a key to the Powerplay… Once we get to a situation where we don’t need to grind and forecheck, we are completely baffled, and this isn’t a new concern this has been going on all year…
One reason i believe this is the problem is because we have an over abundance of grinder type players… which is why a guy like nash who can do a lot of both makes a nice fit for the rangers… i’m sure we’ll know by today or tomorrow whether that is going to happen or not…

3 PM Monday
is the latest you can get a trade request into the NHL office.
by rain-g-errs on Feb 25, 2012 11:21 AM EST up reply actions
doesn’t mean it will be approved, but if you get in a request by that time, they will go over the #s, cap hits, etc… set up a conference call to go over it all with both GMs and a neutral third party and get it done providing it doesn’t put you over the cap etc..
So we might not know if a trade goes through till later in the night.

It dosn’t look as thought Howsman is going to move Nash,and may wait til the off season.I wonder if Carolina would be willing to move Eric Staal.
really doubt it, He is their Rick Nash. They haven’t been playing that bad lately. They do not need a full rebuild, just bring in a few more pieces in the off season and they are a playoff team.
by rain-g-errs on Feb 25, 2012 11:29 AM EST up reply actions
Yeah carolina’s lacking some Defense and a maybe another good center… Remember skinner was hurt all year and staal started the year terribly and has picked it up of late… Cam Ward is a legitimate goaltender so that’s not an issue…
@clalicata17
by Clalicata17 on Feb 25, 2012 11:31 AM EST up reply actions
The longer Howson holds onto nash the less his value is… listening to Toronto Radio 1050 yesterday they were discussing now that Vermette is gone, and Carter… it’s inevitable Nash has already expressed he doesn’t want to be a part of another rebuilding and they risk a new “Heatley” situation by holding onto him… remember he has a NTC and it’s unlikely the teams on list are going to change… It is believed that Nash will not play a game for CBJ next season… He will be traded it’s a matter of where and when, but waiting until the summer could really limit the return, even more so than now…
The last thing CBJ need is to anger nash to the point where he makes it so difficult to trade that his value drops significantly…

I think we need to juggle our lines tonight vs Buffalo
Anisimov Stepan Gaborik
Mitchell Richards Callahan
Hagelin Dubinsky Boyle
Fedetenko Rupp Prust
Based on how everybody has played lately, what do you think?
I think if anything we should give richards and gaborik another shot together… i’d like to see
Anisimov Richards Gabby
Dubinsky Stepan Cally
Hagelin Boyle Prust
Feds Mitchell Rupp

Yeah it would probably be the same but, with how people are playing today I would shuffle your lines a little bit. Definitely do want to try out Richie with Gabby again too.
Anisimov Richards Gaborik
Dubinsky Stepan Cally
Hagelin Boyle Mitchell
Fedentenko Rupp Prust
Mitchell does not deserve to be on the 4th line with how he has been playing, and i think hagelin should be moved down a line. Reuniting him with Mitchell might spark some chemistry for both of them too.
by rain-g-errs on Feb 25, 2012 12:00 PM EST up reply actions
my main reason for mitchell there was he tends to take a lot of faceoffs…
@clalicata17
by Clalicata17 on Feb 25, 2012 12:08 PM EST up reply actions
The Fourth line in torts’ games gets like 5 minutes of play. He can alternate with Boyle. He is at 57.3% on faceoffs but has only taken 110, while boyle has taken 800 and is at 51.3%.
