So rumors were squashed.
As far as Ryan Smith rumors go, they were pretty much ended. We all know that he wanted nothing more that to be and Oiler again and he got his wish with the trade from LA to Edmonton. This is the tweet that want out last night. So Besides Larry Brooks, anyone else reporting on this just saw that rumor die.

Do you like this story?

1. You mean the Los Angeles Kings not the Sharks, right?
2. If this is the case, so be it. At best he’d be a rental player that would almost certainly just go back and sign with Edmonton after the end of this year.

Brooks is standing by his claim, and rumors only came from him:
Larry Brooks @NYP_Brooksie
Bcause, you know, players always tell the truth to the media a month before the deadline when asked if they would waive a no-move clause.
brooks always stands by his stories, no matter how obviously bullshit they are
he’s built his career off nuggets like ’toronto and the rangers have a deal in place sending gilmour to new york for kovalev" before the ’97 deadline
his desk has a dartboard on it, he cuts players names out, tacks them on the board and throws darts until he hits a couple of names and BAM there’s his source

mouse forever….Wouldn't you rather be a lion for one day than a mouse for life?" - Lord General Sather
"Nobody knows anything" - William Goldman
Meh, what else would you expect him to say?
He has been around enough to know if he said anything else he would be in the GM’s office in 2 seconds flat. Not the way to go if you want EDM to offer you another contract.

Absolutely.
Regardless, I’d like to avoid Smyth.
"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
I’m fine with that.
I’m just worried that it’ll be more than that.

Doubt it. Maybe MZA also just to give him a chance.

Offer him a legit Cup run and the option to go back to Edmonton in the summer and see what he says. For a couple of months he can crash on my couch so he doesn’t have to rent an apt in the City.

I'd said he wasn't coming here.
The first thing that told me he wasn’t, was that he was traded back there to deal with the ailing family member. He didn’t want to leave before, so he wasn’t leaving again.
Anyway, moving on.
