2012 Top 25 Under 25: Number 25 - Kyle Jean

This isn't Kyle Jean ... but we didn't have a picture of Kyle Jean. So this is Brady Skjei.

As we told you all on Sunday, Blueshirt Banter is going to be releasing a new annual list called Top 25 Under 25. The list contains the New York Rangers' best 25 players and prospects who are under 25 years of age. Today we kick things off with number 25: Kyle Jean

Jean is a special inclusion on this list, mainly because he hasn't played any time in the Rangers' system. Jean did have a tryout session with the team's prospects back in July, and made a significant impact with the Rangers' brass, enough of an impact to earn a professional contract with the team.

Jean had a pretty solid year for Lake Superior State University, scoring 12 goals and adding 12 assists for 24 points in 39 games. Jean ended up scoring four goals in the four scrimmage games with the Rangers' prospects, and drew tons of praise from various different members of the media -- who were obviously covering the event.

Here is what Andrew Gross had to say about the Rangers signing Jean.

One of the most impressive players at last week's Rangers' prospect camp was unheralded forward Kyle Jean, who has played two seasons at Lake Superior State. Jean wound up with four goals in four scrimmages during the week-long camp and, today, he agreed to terms with the Rangers on a contract.

Here's what I wrote about Jean on the last day of camp...

"And then there's Jean, heading into his junior season at Lake Superior State and who might have done the best job out of anyone at camp in convincing the Rangers to offer him a contract.

Jean is still very inexperienced, and can obviously fall off the pace he had during the prospects scrimmage. But when you're going through the resources of any team, you're going to have guys who show tons of potential, they just haven't been to the big stage yet.

That's Jean. And he was so impressive this offseason it was hard to leave him off the list, so we didn't. Jean dominated the scrimmage, a scrimmage in which he played against some of the team's top prospects. That happens to be a high-octane camp, so it was impressive to see him dominate.

I know it's early in the list, but thoughts on this guys?
