When reading about the Gaborik for Dan Boyle rumors I immediately thought of a different trade with Gaborik and the Sharks. Marian Gaborik, Brian Boyle, Pick and middle of the road prospect for Joe Thornton. That'd at least be the basic outline of a potential trade. Both Gaborik and Thornton have a year after this one left on their deals. Gaborik ony makes $500,000 more than Thornton. The Sharks can take the cap hit. If the Sharks tank over the next couple weeks before the trade deadline this is honestly a deal I could get behind. Rick Nash and Joe Thornton apparently are BFF's so maybe something comes from that. Honestly I'm completely spitballing, but I think a trade like this is possibly plausible. I'm positive the Sharks aren't keen on trading Joe but if the deal's good enough they could be persuaded. After all, they may not want to re-sign him in two years anyway because of his price or other factors. Who knows. I could be fucking crazy but what do you guys think?
