Rangers rolling; Nash's resurgence; Del Zotto working hard; The revitalized power play

Bruce Bennett

Today's New York Rangers notes.

Happy Monday. For the third time this season, the Rangers have pushed a winning-streak up to three. Not once this season has the team managed to win the next game, but we'll worry about that on Tuesday when the Rangers host Tampa Bay. There's a whole lot to get to, so here are your Monday notes.

Three Stars of the Weekend

Number three: Derick Brassard He scored in each game this weekend, and is beginning to look for his own shot more, something Rangers coaches have asked him to do all season.

Number two: Rick Nash Here's the cool thing about Nash when he's playing to his potential: He's a phenomenal power forward. Nash netted two game-winners this weekend, both showcasing his unique skills in different ways. Nash is now tied for second on the team in goals (11), and game-winning goals (4).

Number one: Henrik Lundqvist He's back to his old tricks. It's odd we've had this many editions of Monday notes and Lundqvist has yet to claim this honor. In the wins against Dallas and Philadelphia, Lundqvist turned away 51 of 54 shots for a casual .944 save percentage. He also provided timely goaltending, anchoring the Rangers down the stretch against Dallas, and making five saves on a Philadelphia power play when the Rangers were ahead early in Sunday's game.

What you missed

It was so nice, let's watch it twice.

The Blueshirts would go on to get two more, and defeat the Flyers 4-1 in a dominating showing. Some recaps.
