The New York Rangers have signed depth pieces Alex Belzile (F), Connor Mackey (D), and Nikolas Brouillard (D). All three players are on one-year deals and are bound to spend more time in the AHL than the NHL next season.

Belzile was the captain of Laval Rocket and had 14 points in 31 GP with the Montreal Canadiens in 2022-23. At age 31, he has 44 games of NHL experience to his name and he got them the hard way. Belzile has spent parts of five seasons in the ECHL and has 319 games played in the AHL. He will be 32 at the end of August.

Mackey, 26, is a left-handed defender who has been searching for a way to be a consistent offensive presence at the highest level. He put up points at the Minnesota State University (Mankato) and in the NHL but has 11 points in 39 GP. Mackey had 1 goal and 2 assists in 10 games with Team USA at the 2023 Worlds. He had 36 points in 53 GP in the 2021-22 AHL season with the Stockton Heat.

Brouillard, 28, has yet to play in an NHL game. Like Mackey, he is a depth left-handed defenseman with some offensive upside. He is coming off back-to-back 36-point seasons with the San Diego Gulls. Brouillard's road to the Rangers includes time in the QMJHL, USports, the ECHL, and 168 games in the American Hockey League.
