2009 NHL Draft: Parting thoughts on the Rangers picks from Adam Graves
I was able to catch up with Adam Graves heading out of the draft, I asked him what the feelings were on the draft picks. He said the Rangers were very happy with the players they got, especially the first three round picks.
"It's all about heart, it's all about intensity, and its all about hard work, our top 3 picks definitely exemplify that, we couldn't be happier. "
Who would know more about heart, intensity, and hard work than Adam Graves?
He also said the Rangers were thrilled Kreider was still there in the first round, that was someone they were zeroed in on. He also said that they never expected Werek to be available in the 2nd round, and were ecstatic to get him.
If I could put my fan hat back on for a second, Graves is my all-time favorite, I really appreciated him taking the time to talk to me.
The draft is over, the floor is emptying, I'm going to enjoy the rest of my day in Montreal, and go knock back an Export or two. I'll have plenty more thoughts tomorrow.

The Rangers have selected Roman Horak in the 5th round, center from the Czech Republic. He isn't here, won't have any face time with him
2009 NHL Draft: New York Rangers select Ryan Bourque in the 3rd round (yes that Bourque)
The Rangers selected Ryan Bourque from the US National Development Team, and that's just the way he wanted it.
"I knew the Rangers wanted me, and I predicted they would draft me. I wanted to go there, I like the Rangers, its Original Six, and I like their uniforms" Bourque said as he tried on one of his own.
Proud Dad Ray Bourque was on hand to support his son, and also said he thought the Rangers would take Borque. "I was hopeful the Rangers would select him, I just told him to be patient, it doesn't matter where you are picked, you still have to prove yourself everyday. I've preached to him his whole life to play hard."
Here is the full audio with Ryan, and you'll hear me ask him why he wanted to be selected by the Rangers. I've also attached a pic I took of the Bourque family.
2009 NHL Draft: Interview with New York Rangers 2nd round pick Ethan Werek
The Rangers selected Ethan Werek from the Kingston Frontenacs. He is a big center/left wing. Many projections had him going in the first round, so the Rangers may have really found a gem in the middle of the 2nd.
Here is his profile from the Frontenacs
I was able to catch Ethan downstairs for a few minutes, here is the audio. Its basically his whole press conference, about 4 minutes, you'll hear me in the middle:
