A couple of quick stories heading into tonight's matchup between the Rangers and Devils:

• Facing the Rangers and Avery might be just what the struggling Devils need.

 What else can be said about tonight? The Rangers are in 7^th place, 1 point ahead of the Habs, 2 points ahead of the Panthers. Montreal hosts Chicago tonight, and the Panthers are home for the Senators. The Rangers could find themselves tied for 8^th place tomorrow morning. Just a few days ago, 4^th place seemed well within reach. Now, we are praying for the 8^th and 9^th teams to lose.
