Shortly after the conclusion of the Rangers final exhibition game again EV Zug, Coach John Tortorella announced that Marc Staal will miss the first two games of the regular season, and potentially more.

Marc Staal has been suffering from concussion-related headaches, and as a result, will not join the team in Stockholm, Sweden. According to Steve Zipay, Staal will remain in New York and continue to work with doctors. John Tortorella also mentioned that Staal will not be placed on the injury reserve for time being, which could be a good sign.

Staal recently skated this past weekend with the Connecticut Whale, after seeing multiple doctors and specialists. It was noted that Staal could possibly join the Rangers if he felt good after practices, but that clearly was not the case.

Wth Staal not being placed on the IR, that could mean a short-term injury, but it's all about the waiting game. With that all said, the Rangers will have to roll with either Brendan Bell or Stu Bickel as a replacement for Marc Staal. We will have to see how it all unfolds, until than we will continue to update as we hear more about Marc Staal.
