2013 NHL Playoffs: Injury Updates on Ryane Clowe, Derek Dorsett, and Marc Staal

Ryane Clowe was absent at practice this afternoon once again, while both Derek Dorsett and Marc Staal continued to practice.

Following the New York Rangers first practice for the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs, there were some injury updates regarding some of the players that are still yet to return. Those being Ryane Clowe, Derek Dorsett, Marc Staal, and Brian Boyle. Derek Dorsett continued to skate in a non-contact jersey this morning, while Marc Staal took part in penalty killing drills during the second half of the practice.

According to Andrew Gross, there was nothing new to report on Marc Staal's condition, other than that he continues to work to get comfortable and confident with the puck again. Staal still is confident that he will be able to return at some point during the first round. As for Derek Dorsett, he still has yet to cleared for contact, even after receiving X-Rays earlier in the day to determine his status.

"I had a doctors appointment, I haven’t been cleared for contact yet. There have been no setbacks, there is nothing I can do about it. We are coming up on eight weeks so we are still on the timeline that we figured. Will play it day by day."

There has been absolute silence when it comes to both Ryane Clowe and Brian Boyle. There is a strange feeling among the media that Clowe is suffering from a concussion, and that he will likely be out for some time. On the other hand, we've also heard nothing on Brian Boyle, who suffered an apparent leg injury a few weeks back.

While this isn't great news for the Rangers, they can't hang their heads about it. The further they go, the better chance that these guys will be able to return to the lineup.
