2013 World Junior Championships: J.T. Miller Named Alternate Captain Of Team USA; Brady Skjei Cut
Team USA announced their captain, and alternate captains early Sunday morning. Among the four alternate captains was New York Rangers 1st-round draft pick J.T. Miller. Brady Skjei was also apart of the two players cut from Team USA's roster.
Just hours before boarding their flight to Ufa, Russia, Team USA announced their roster cuts along with naming their team captain, and four alternate captains for the 2013 World Junior Championships. Before Team USA's camp opened up, there was some serious speculation that J.T. Miller could don the captain's "C" for Team USA this upcoming tournament. However, after many days of speculation, J.T. Miller was named one of four alternate captains alongside Cole Bardreau of Cornell University, Jacob Trouba of the University of Michigan, and Seth Jones of the Portland Winterhawks.
Bardreau and Trouba will serve as alternate captains in one color jersey, and J.T. Miller and Jones will serve as alternate captains in the other set of jerseys, which is set to be announced in the coming days.
Brady Skjei was also among the two player cuts for Team USA after he was considered "on the fence" for a majority of Team USA's camp. Team USA still needs to cut one final defenseman to bring their roster size down to the required amount of 20 skates, and three goalies.
Team USA will open up the preliminary round of the tournament on Thursday, December 27th where they faceoff against Germany. For a list of Team USA's preliminary games, they will post below. All games will air on the NHL Network, TSN, and NHL.com.
