New York Rangers make 4 more cuts, but roster still not finalized

New, comments

The Rangers were expected to make their final round of cuts on Monday, revealing who will remain with the team come the regular season.

Just ahead of their 11 a.m. practice time this morning, the Rangers assigned four players to the Hartford Wolf Pack. The team announced that Ryan Haggerty, Marek Hrivik, Oscar Lindberg, and Dylan McIlrath were all sent down to the AHL, while the Rangers still have more moves to make to finalize the roster.

The Rangers still have 16 forwards in camp, and even if the team sends Derek Stepan to LTIR, which seems more likely by the day, they'll need to make another move up front to get down to the correct number. That doesn't include moving a contract to keep Anthony Duclair, and getting under that 50 limit.

As practice began, Jesper Fast, Chris Mueller, Anthony Duclair, and J.T. Miller were all on the ice. Kevin Hayes who has been plagued with a sore shoulder wasn't participating in practice, but was at the rink, and there's been no indication he's been cut from the NHL club yet.

But it appears as if there are more developments to come today.

We'll continue to update this news as it becomes available.
