If you blinked, you might have missed Anthony Duclair net his second preseason goal. In what was his second pro game, Duclair did what he's now done (again, count it, twice) in every time he's put on a Rangers sweater: score.
And on Monday night against the Flyers and goalie Steve Mason, who is a starter (where and how you rank him can be more arbitrary) Duclair scored an absolute goal-scorers goal.
Don't believe me? Let's go to the GIF!
It's an uphill battle for Duclair when it comes to earning a roster spot, which mostly comes down to a numbers game. On merit, Duclair has done exactly what's expected of him when he's been inserted in preseason competition: score. He's also simply been dangerous and creative when the puck is on his stick with about whoever is on the is with him. All of this will force management to reconsider its plan moving forward, or at the very least, keep Duclair's name in the conversation.
Anthony Duclair will borrow your copy of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, beat Iron Mike even though you were never able to do so, and then destroy the game cartridge afterward just because he can.
