According to reports out of Sweden, the New York Rangers have recalled Oscar Lindberg for tonight's contest against the Calgary Flames. It was noted this morning by Alain Vigneault that the team was dealing with another flu bug, and this move likely means that at least one forward could be sidelined tonight. AV wouldn't allude to which players were dealing with the symptoms, so we will likely have to wait until warmups kick off before we get any definitive answer.
Funny enough, just a few hours ago, Adam posted an article about Lindberg being a call up option after his impressive performance in Hartford this weekend. Obviously the circumstances are a little different in this scenario, and Lindberg appears to just be a quick fix to hold the Rangers over until they are healthy. Either way, this is Lindberg's first real shot to prove his worth in a meaningful game with the Rangers, and who knows, maybe he earns a longer look if he plays well enough.
UPDATE - 4:16 PM
The New York Rangers made the move official via their Twitter account. It is still unknown if Lindberg will be in the lineup tonight.
