Rangers vs. Flyers: Open Game Thread

The Rangers will look to avoid a fourth consecutive loss.

The New York Rangers (27-27-5, 59 points) have lost three games in a row, and a loss vs. the Philadelphia Flyers (29-19-10, 68 points) would push the team even further down the standings. As it is the Rangers are five points out of a playoff spot with teams like the Carolina Hurricanes and Columbus Blue Jackets within striking distance of claiming the final spot.

It goes without saying that this team isn't built to contend, but at some point, you would think the coaching staff would be more realistic about the team's situation. At what point is Henrik Lundqvist not going to be thrown out as a sacrificial lamb?

After today's game there are three games left on the schedule before the February 26 trade deadline, and you would imagine that at some point players like Rick Nash and Michael Grabner will be scratched as a precaution. For now, the status quo will remain as every game in Alain Vigneault's mind is "must win."

Try and enjoy the game!
