Late in the first period of game one, Henrik Lundqvist was injured when a stray Marc Staal stick ended up inside his mask. Staal, while battling with Oskar Sundqvist in front of the net, accidentally flailed his stick a little too close to Lundqvist's face, and injured Hank around the right eye. Lundqvist stayed in the game for the remaining 48 seconds, giving up a goal in the process. Antti Raanta came in for the start of the second period, with Lundqvist being declared day-to-day by Alain Vigneault.

The extent of the injury, and any timetable to a return, is unknown at this time. Game two between the Rangers and Penguins is scheduled for Saturday, April 16.
