The New York Rangers have officially announced Ryan McDonagh will be out indefinitely with an upper body injury. This, of course, is in relation to the shot he blocked with his hand in the win over Columbus on Monday.
Ryan McDonagh will be sidelined indefinitely with an upper body injury. He will not dress in any of the 3 remaining regular season games.— New York Rangers (@NYRangers) April 5, 2016
The Rangers have confirmed he won't play in any of the remaining games this year, and have already recalled Brady Skjei as of this morning.
I would say it's a pretty fair assumption that McDonagh is going to miss some playoff time, although how much (if any) has yet to be determined. The injury has not been disclosed but Hockey Stat Miner hear via a source that the injury is a fracture in his wrist.
I am hearing from a (fairly reliable) source that McDonagh sustained a fractured metacarpal, looking at 4-6 week injury— HockeyStatMiner (@HockeyStatMiner) April 5, 2016
More when we get it.
