Time - 6:00PM

Location - Newark, NJ

The New York Riveters (4-5-2) host the Boston Pride (9-0-0) tonight in Newark, NJ. The Riveters are riding a wave of confidence and momentum after their impressive 3-0 win in Buffalo last week. Meanwhile, the incomparable Pride will look to extend their winning streak and keep their undefeated season going strong.

Although it has been speculated and expected for some time, it appears that Amanda Kessel will finally return to the ice tonight. The all-star captain and US Olympian has not played since the season opener when she recorded two assists in a 3-6 loss against this Boston team.

The Pride are coming off of a shutout of their own against Connecticut last week. Boston has outscored their opponents 37-10 this season thanks to leading goal-scorers Alex Carpenter and Brianna Decker along with premier goalie Brittany Ott.

Players to Watch

New York Riveters:

#28 F Amanda Kessel (1 GP | 0 G | 2 A) - Amanda Kessel possesses game-changing talent and is among the most skilled hockey players in the NWHL. Her absence has certainly weakened the team, even if it has been masked due to the breakout performance of Rebecca Russo. Kessel's playmaking ability, particularly on the powerplay, can dominate teams and change the course of any given game. If she does make her expected return tonight, look for her to showcase her skills and find the boxscore early and often.

Boston Pride:

#25 F Alex Carpenter (9 GP | 6 G | 8 A) - The former first overall pick of the New York Riveters has shown why she was so revered heading into last year's draft. Her decision to sign with Boston after New York traded her has clearly worked in her favor, scoring 14 points on the league's best team. She has registered a point in all but one game this season and will look to continue her productive play.
