Filip Chytil Assigned To Hartford, Andrew Desjardins Released

In news we all knew was coming, Filip Chytil is no longer with the big club. After the acquisition of Adam Cracknell off waivers Monday, the New York Rangers have sent 18-year-old Chytil down to Hartford.

In clarification of the nine-game rule — Chytil can play out the year in the AHL and still have his year slide on his entry level contract. This is, ultimately, a good way for him to get a top-line role and North American experience; presuming, of course, Hartford’s coaching changes have righted the ship in terms of player development. This might be ideal, since Chytil will get a real role in North America, while also keeping his ELC at three years. This is going to be something to keep an eye on, though.

In other news, Andrew Desjardins was blessedly released from his tryout and is no longer with the club. Welcome to the fourth line, Cracknell.
