The Rangers will take on the Devils after their first loss of the preseason Friday night against the Islanders. Here's some pre-game notes:

- Filip Chytil recorded the game-winning goal on Wednesday and had an assist on the Rangers' only goal on Friday. In two games he's been one of the more noticeable forwards. Good for him, too, since it appears as though Alain Vigneault intends on giving both him and alias Andersson their nine NHL games before they need to make a decision on whether or not to burn a year off their ELCs.

-Neal Pionk and Anthony DeAngelo continue to put pressure on the rest of the defense for those final two spots. Marc Staal and Nick Holden, specifically, haven't exactly shown they belong on the opening night roster.

- I'm curious to see what the power play is going to look up when everyone is in the lineup. Kevin Shattenkirk alone has already made a big difference, but Chytil's addition has been a joy to watch, and power Chris Kreider might be the perfect compliment there.

- Pavel Buchnevich better have a solidified top-nine role this year, if not top-six.

Enjoy the game.
