Game Thread: Rangers vs Ducks

Quack

Tonight the New York Rangers and Alexandar Georgiev will look to get back to winning hockey against the Anaheim Ducks. This will be Georgiev’s first NHL action since Dec. 1 when he allowed five goals on 41 shots against the Montreal Canadiens.

Anaheim has struggled mightily on the power play and has been mediocre on the penalty kill this season. Like the Rangers, the Ducks have been in the red in the shot share all season long. But, unlike the Rangers, Anaheim is in a playoff position. The Ducks had a big come-from-behind victory in Pittsburgh last night and are now riding a four-game winning streak.

The Rangers are 2-5-3 in their last 10 games and haven’t won a game in regulation since Nov. 26. After tonight’s game the Rangers will have three days off before playing back-to-back games on the weekend at Toronto on Saturday and against the Flyers at MSG on Sunday.

This month, Kevin Hayes and Mika Zibanejad are leading the team in scoring with eight and nine points, respectively. Zibanejad has picked up four power play points in the last six games and now has 11 points on the man advantage in the season.
