Per Bob McKenzie, the Boston Bruins have traded for Rick Nash. The return, as outlined right now, is below.
Not yet official yet because the trade call with NHL has not happened but BOS and NYR have a deal in place for Rick Nash. Return to NYR expected to include BOS first-round pick and prospect defenseman Ryan Lindgren, but there are other elements to the deal as well.— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) February 25, 2018
I’m curious to see what the “other elements” are here, and until we know I’m going to withhold judgement. The first round pick is a nice get, obviously, but the other aspects are going to be important too. At first glance, Lindgren projects to be a number four defenseman at best, so I’m curious to see what else is involved here. Especially since the Rangers are eating salary:
NYR will be retaining 50 per cent of Nash’s remaining salary and AAV for the balance of the season. Nash, of course,is UFA on July 1.— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) February 25, 2018
More when we know everything.
