2019 Hockey Hall of Fame: Sergei Zubov To Be Inducted in November

Sergei Zubov has finally been recognized, and will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in November.

Zubov was selected in the fifth round of the 1990 draft, and joined the New York Rangers in 1992 after playing four seasons with the Moscow Red Army.

His career with the Blueshirts was short, but very productive, and includes an impressive 156 points in 165 regular season games; including a team-leading 89 points during the 1993-94 season. He also notched 30 points in 32 playoff games with the Blueshirts.

Zubov was dealt on August 31, 1995 to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Petr Nedved, Luc Robitaille and Ulf Samuelsson. He then spent one season in Pittsburgh before being dealt to the Dallas Stars for Kevin Hatcher.

Zubov’s career ended with 771 points in 1,068 games, and other accolades include three All-Star Game selections, his 1994 Cup, and one with the Dallas Stars during the 1998-99 season.

His induction to the Hall of Fame is long overdue, and he will certainly be remembered as one of the best offensive defenders of his era.

Induction Weekend festivities will run from Friday, November 15th through Sunday, November 17th, 2019 culminating with the Induction Celebration on Monday, November 18th, 2019.
