Game #7: Arizona Coyotes vs New York Rangers Open Thread

After an off day that saw some line juggling in practice, the Rangers are back in action tonight, as they’ll welcome the Arizona Coyotes into the world’s most famous arena. In the midst of a four game losing streak, David Quinn opted to shake things up with some interesting line combinations for tonight’s contest:

Among the notable changes, Pavel Buchnevich is back on the 3rd line, breaking up the explosive top line featuring him, Artemi Panarin, and Mika Zibanejad in an effort to spread some talent around the lineup. In his place is Jesper Fast, who will look to build off of his strong effort Sunday afternoon and cement himself on David Quinn’s top line. Defenseman Brendan Smith was demoted from third line forward to fourth line forward, as he’ll once again flank former 7th overall pick Lias Andersson. Alexandar Georgiev will get the start in goal.

Player to Watch: Jesper Fast

A two point effort out of Jesper Fast on Sunday was enough to earn him a promotion to the Blueshirts’ top line. Fast brings a different element to the top unit than either Buchnevich or Chris Kreider, so look for a different type of game when the team’s two most dynamic players hop over the boards.

Enjoy the game!
