Game #9: Boston Bruins vs New York Rangers Open Thread

It’s the sports equinox of 2019, and the New York Rangers will join in on the fun as they host the Boston Bruins tonight. The Bruins are coming off a statement victory against the St. Louis Blues, as they avenged their Stanley Cup Finals defeat with a 3-0 victory last night. The quick turnaround means that the Blueshirts will look to jump out to another early start, and bury the Bruins before they have an opportunity to get their legs under them.

After snapping their five game losing streak on Thursday, the Rangers will look to build off of their success and start a winning streak against the Bruins. Ryan Strome missed the team’s most recent practice, with Greg McKegg serving as his placeholder. The line combinations are as follows:

Player to Watch: Brendan Lemieux

While most players stray away from the type of game Brad Marchand plays for the Bruins, the Rangers have a player who can go toe-to-toe with his antics. Lemieux is set to skate alongside Brett Howden and Kaapo Kakko on David Quinn’s third line. Although Quinn will look to keep that unit away from Bsoton’s top line that features Marchand, look for Lemieux to make an impact on tonight’s contest.

Enjoy the game!
