Mika Zibanejad Remains Out Against Ottawa But Is “Making Progress”

Mika Zibanejad has been inching closer to a return to the lineup throughout the week, but that return will be on hold for at least another game. David Quinn confirmed this afternoon that Zibanejad will remain out of the lineup for tonight’s contest against the Ottawa Senators, but is a possibility for Wednesday’s game.

The good news is Zibanejad continues to show signs of improvement and stepped on the ice for a short time at the morning skate wearing a no-contact red jersey. The Rangers have done surprisingly well without their number one center and are currently riding a two-game winning streak coming into tonight’s contest.

With Zibanejad’s expected return on the horizon, it will quickly become decision time again for the Rangers regarding one of their young centers. Tom wrote up an excellent story outlining some possible lineup scenarios and decisions the Rangers could make once Zibanejad is fully healthy.

Puck drop between the Rangers and Senators is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
