Game #26: Vegas Golden Knights vs New York Rangers Open Thread

Following their shutout victory over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday afternoon, the Rangers have returned to Madison Square Garden for a Monday night matchup with the Vegas Golden Knights. The Blueshirts come into action with a five game point streak, (4-0-1) and they’ll look to make it six against a Vegas team about to embark on a set of three games in four nights.

In the team’s prior two visits to MSG, Vegas has played the Rangers tough. Last season’s trip resulted in a 4-3 overtime victory for the visitors, while the franchise’s inaugural trip to Broadway saw them fall in a wild 6-4 game that was rumored to have saved Alain Vigneault’s job on Halloween 2017. These two teams are set to square off next Sunday as well, so keep an eye out for any bad blood that could carry over to the next meeting.

Player to Watch: Libor Hajek

With Marc Staal returning to the lineup sooner rather than later, a left handed defenseman is likely on the chopping block as of right now. Hajek is likely competing with Ryan Lindgren for ice time, and possibly an NHL roster spot, when Staal returns, and Hajek’s been losing that competition. His struggles during the early weeks of the season were cause for concern, and when juxtaposed with Lindgren’s competence since his recall, Hajek could find himself on the wrong side of the ledger sooner rather than later

Enjoy the game!
