Game #27: New York Rangers vs Columbus Blue Jackets Open Thread

After two days off to stew over their 4-1 home loss against the Vegas Golden Knights, the Rangers are back on the road to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets. Tonight’s meeting marks the first of four between these heated Metropolitan Division rivals for the 2019-20 campaign.

The headline for tonight’s matchup will be Artemiy Panrin’s return to Columbus. In spite of only spending two seasons playing for the Blue Jackets, there’s an argument to be made that Panarin was the most dynamic player to ever call Columbus home.

David Quinn Opted for some major line juggling at practice yesterday, with the most notable change being Kaapo Kakko’s rise to the top powerplay unit. Alexandar Georgiev will get the start in goal.

Player to Watch: Artemiy Panarin

During his time in the Buckeye State, Panarin recorded a stat line of 55-114-169 across 160 regular season contests, as well as a 7-11-18 line over 16 post-season games. In spite of being offered a lucrative eight year contract, Panarin spurned Columbus and opted to sign with the Blueshirts in unrestricted free agency, and Columbus’ loss has been New York’s gain since then. Look for Panarin to do more of the same against his former team tonight.

Enjoy the game!
