2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs: Déjà Vu Edition Open Thread

There’s nothing in sports quite like Game 7 of a Stanley Cup playoff series. Loser goes home with five months to think about their last game, winner continues their quest for the greatest trophy in sports. Tonight’s action features two Game 7’s which are as follows:

Toronto Maple Leafs vs Boston Bruins: Game 7 on NBCSN at 7:00 PM EDT

Vegas Golden Knights vs San Jose Sharks: Game 7 on NBCSN at 10:00 PM EDT

The Toronto Maple Leafs, who’ve seen their quests for the Stanley Cup end on the wrong end of a Game 7 in the City of Champions twice in the last six years, will take on the Boston Bruins in the first game of the night. The Leafs held a 4-3 lead with 20:00 to play in last year’s matchup, but choked it away and gave up four unanswered goals enroute to a 7-4 loss.

If you’re interested in seeing more Game 7 leads that Toronto choked away to Boston, then this is the place for you. The Leafs also choked away a 4-1 lead in the third period Game 7 in the 2013 ECQF, including giving up two goals under the 1:30 mark to blow a 4-2 lead and eventually lose in overtime:

The Vegas Golden Knights and San Jose Sharks will also hit the ice for a Game 7. San Jose took Game 1 of the series, lost the next three to go down 3-1, and have won the last two games to force tonight’s contest.

Enjoy the games, and let’s go Bruins, and Golden Knights.
