The former USA World Junior representative gives the Rangers forward depth.

The New York Rangers have signed forward Danny O’Regan, the team announced on Monday.

O’Regan, 25, is a high-caliber AHL player who registered an impressive 146 points in 182 AHL games. The former Sharks’ draft pick  has played in 25 NHL games, most recently with the Buffalo Sabres.

O’Regan is a speedy forward who can play both center and wing. He played under Rangers Head Coach David Quinn at Boston University. O’Regan will get a chance to earn a spot on the Rangers in training camp, but most likely he spends the season as a top-line forward in Hartford who can perform spot duty for the Rangers whenever injuries hit.
